I have always feel drawn to the sea and have realised that at 32 years old I have only ever lived by the sea. This was not on purpose but every place I have ever spent any significant amount of time has been on the coast. The ocean can provide us with so much, on some days it is soothing and on others wild. Sometimes I walk along the beach either in Southend in the UK (home town) or in my new home Sierra Leone and I feel calm and tranquil and yet at other times being by the coast makes me feel, wild, exhilarated and free.

Sierra Leone hosts a number of truly sensational beaches and also the rare experience of being able to walk along many of them completely alone. Tourism is thankfully on the rise in the country but I must admit I still love the feeling of seeing the shore line stretched out in front of me without another soul in sight! You feel as though you have discovered a secret place, your own hideaway:
