Beach Life in Sierra Leone
“In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.”
― Rachel Carson
I have always feel drawn to the sea and have realised that at 32 years old I have only ever lived by the sea. This was not on purpose but every place I have ever spent any significant amount of time has been on the coast. The ocean can provide us with so much, on some days it is soothing and on others wild. Sometimes I walk along the beach either in Southend in the UK (home town) or in my new home Sierra Leone and I feel calm and tranquil and yet at other times being by the coast makes me feel, wild, exhilarated and free.
Sierra Leone hosts a number of truly sensational beaches and also the rare experience of being able to walk along many of them completely alone. Tourism is thankfully on the rise in the country but I must admit I still love the feeling of seeing the shore line stretched out in front of me without another soul in sight! You feel as though you have discovered a secret place, your own hideaway:

Tokeh Beach in Sierra Leone – keep walking this way and you can make it to the equally stunning River No.2
Ethereal!
These are some stunning photographs. Usually we don’t see views like this when thinking about Sierra Leone. It is so good to see an other (a better) side of the story. These pictures definitely made me want to hop on a plane to Africa! I can’t wait to see more.

Laura, some pictures are too good. It’s a treat to eyes. I like your style of photography – very clean, simplistic approach, though very effective. Thanks for sharing wonderful pictures.
Wow, what a lovely comment! Thanks so much!
These are really fantastic photographs! Beaches provides excellent opportunities for digital photography because of their vast natural beauty, impressive hues, and fascinating patterns of light.
