Food tour and some Iphoneography in Venice
While in Venice earlier this month my husband and I went on an excellent food tour with Venice Bites (http://venicebitesfoodtours.com) We have started adding in a food tour on many of our travels at the beginning of a trip as it is an excellent way to get to know a place while eating and drinking tasty morsels! It also, and this was certainly true in this case, helps you get to grips with local eateries rather than falling into the all too comfortable trap of just going in tourist focused establishments.
As we visited Venice outside the crowded and sweaty tourist season of summer it was only us on the tour and our hosts Adam and Maya were entertaining, interesting and helped us engage throughly with ‘authentic’ Venice. We also ate and drank a lot!
Things we learnt about eating in Venice –
- You can eat cheaply! You just need to know where to go. Check out the Venice Bites website for loads of advice on eating local and eating well.
- So much of Venice is hidden. Amazing bars and eateries existed behind shop windows that gave no clue to what was inside.
- House wine is the wine to have.
- The water in fountains in Venice is clean and safe to drink so avoid buying bottles and just fill up.
Beautiful shots!
