Model sense in Sierra Leone
In the Spring of 2014 I took some images for Evoque Magazine, a beautiful publication highlighting all that is wonderful about Sierra Leone, this particular set of images showcased the classy, beach-inspired clothing designs of Kadiatu Kamara, a former model turned designer. This was really different work for me as it involved posing models, often my work with people focuses on shooting them in their natural setting and surroundings in an informal and fairly candid manner. Images were taken at The Place resort in Tokeh, Sierra Leone.
I was browsing through my photographs from the past year and I came upon some from this day and it made me smile… there is such talent in Sierra Leone (Kadiatu is not only a very talented designer but also a great advocate for her country) and that talent and the resilience of the people is why the country will rise again when the current Ebola crisis draws to a close. Therefore with that smile on my face I thought I would share three images from that day highlighting some of Kadiatu’s work and also the simple beauty of the Sierra Leonean setting of Tokeh Beach.
