Photo Friday: Good Friday
Last week I started a new section on this blog called ‘Photo Friday’. Every Friday I will post a photo from the back-catalogue that makes me smile. It is good to smile on a Friday! However this Friday is of course a different sort of Friday. This is Good Friday, the day we remember Jesus Christ’s brutal execution. The day we remember mocking and insults and pain and death. It is not the sort of day that you would imagine smiles. Yet for me Good Friday is a good Friday as it is not the end of something, it is the beginning. It is the day that God took on the pain of the world. It is the day that love, and the act of love, took on new meaning. It is also the Friday that becomes before THE Sunday. As Jesus said ‘It is finished’, but it is finished today so that new life could begin and so that life could be lived in its fullest.
I am a Christian and while I work alongside people of all faiths and none and love finding out about people’s beliefs my faith is core to all I am, not only a photographer but as a person too. So on this Easter weekend I choose a photo from my Malawi folder from 2010. This is a photo that has been reproduced a few times in print and I love it as it is so simple. The photo shows wooden crosses hanging in the blue plastic sheeted window of a small market shop next to a red, dusty road. The shop was really dark but the light shone through the plastic illuminating the little wooden crosses. Simple. Beautiful.
Laura. Like your idea of Photo Friday. Also appreciate this image and your words at this special time.
Thanks so much. Happy Easter
I am a Christian too…so neat hearing about others putting their faith out there. Thank you for sharing.
No problem, nice to be able to share at Easter and to be able to use my photography (when I can) to glorify God.
I wish there was a pin button–I’d put it on my Pinterest!
It is a beautiful shot. Happy Easter to you!
and to you!
This is such an amazing photo! I love it!
Thanks so much!
